ASD students bring the same drive they have in the lab to everything they do, including sports.
ASD may be a STEM school, but our students are anything but one-dimensional. Because ASD is a public charter school, students are eligible to compete for their home district teams, and they do, at every level and in nearly every sport imaginable. Over the years, ASD students have suited up as football quarterbacks, competed as Olympic-level figure skaters, taken to the ice as hockey players, and even represented the United States in curling. Many have gone on to earn significant college scholarships in sports ranging from hockey to swimming.
On campus, ASD fields a Middle School Cross Country team with a strong legacy of success, including individual and team state titles. Students can also get involved through Ski Club, Sports and Recreation Club, and Hiking Club throughout the year.

ASD students have earned college scholarships in hockey, swimming, and beyond. Being a STEM student and a serious athlete are not mutually exclusive here.

And yes, we consider chess a sport. Strategy, competition, and mental endurance absolutely count.
