Volunteers play an important role in the education of our students. ASD encourages parent participation and also welcomes volunteers from local businesses and organizations, community groups and individuals interested in helping support our school.
Each year the New Hampshire Partners in Education and the New Hampshire State Department of Education recognize schools with outstanding volunteer programs. The Academy for Science and Design received the Blue Ribbon Award for the sixth year in a row in September 2019. The volunteers at the Academy for Science and Design logged a total of 4,388 hours during the 2018-2019 school year and showed the committee how incredibly dedicated to helping ASD our families and supporters are.
Whether it is serving pizza at lunch during a fundraiser, helping with copying, substitute teaching, running a da Vinci Day session, coaching a team, or one of the dozens of other opportunities, it is all important. Research shows that students whose parents are involved in their education have better grades and fewer discipline problems. Involvement at the school also makes it easier to establish friendships with teachers and other parents. We promise that the time that you give to the school will be worth your while – and fun! Contact the school at [email protected] to volunteer or for more information.
