children at the Academy for Science and Design Charter School, hereinafter referred
to as ASD, by fostering relationships among the school, administrators, parents,

ASDEF serves as a vehicle to not only support ASD in providing important and concise
communications, volunteers, fundraising events, extracurricular enrichment (Destination
Imagination, MathCOUNTS, Lego League, Robotics Team, Future Problem Solvers, etc.), and
school events (Open Houses, Field Day, etc.), but to also assist the ASD with mid-term
to long-term needs such as building needs and operational costs and possibly a scholarship
program for the future graduates of the ASD.
ASDEF meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 PM at the school and you are
invited to attend. We will do our best to keep the meetings to a 1 - 1 1/2 hour maximum
duration. These meetings will help you stay better informed about the ASD and its activities.
You will gain greater knowledge from attending these meetings and will have opportunities
to meet members, ask questions, and offer talent and advice.
We have also found electronic communication vital and important among the ASD community,
and ASDEF hosts the ASDEF Google Group - http://groups.google.com/group/ASDEF - for the
benefit of the entire school community.
You can become a member of the ASDEF by filling out the ASDEF Membership Application
and returning it to the ASD School Office.
ASDEF is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit, which can take advantage
of additional fundraising opportunities, including community grants, to help support
the success of ASD and its students. Donations are welcome. Checks may be made out
to the ASDEF and dropped off at the ASD School Office.
You can find out more about ASDEF by reading the Board Meeting Minutes,
Bylaws, and
Articles of Agreement.
